Alfaro began his professional career with the Uruguayan national premier division club, Liverpool FC in 2006. He was the club's top scorer for consecutive seasons in 2008/09 and 2009/10. The Uruguayan made his debut for the national team in a friendly against Italy in 2011 and attracted the attention of Italian giants Lazio.
