From Gurdaspur, Punjab, Germanpreet Singh is a graduate of the Tata Football Academy. He was picked up in the draft leading up to Hero ISL 2017-18 by Chennaiyin FC and played seven matches for them. He has represented the India U-19 side during the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers in 2013. He was also selected into the preliminary squad for the India U-23 side for the 2014 Asian Games, where he made his debut against Uzbekistan U-23. His official debut for the Indian senior side came against Puerto Rico as a substitute in a 4-1 win.
