Born in Rennes, Hugo Boumous graduated from the youth academy of Laval and made his debut with the Reserves in 2013. The 23-year-old was signed by FC Goa in the January transfer window last season and made an instant impact. He contributed to a goal every 116 minutes last season (two goals and two assists), which helped Goa in reaching the playoffs. His love for the long-ranger can be attested by the fact that 78% of his shots came from outside the box in Hero ISL 2017-18. With Manuel Lanzarote joining ATK, Boumous will be expected to take his place as the new number 10.
