Former national coach Sukhwinder Singh spotted Karanjit when he was just 15. JCT signed him in 2004 and he spent six seasons there. Karanjit eventually found his way to Salgaocar and helped the club to an I-League triumph in the 2010-11 season. He made his debut for India against the UAE in 2011. The same year in December he helped India win the 2011 SAFF Cup. Crucial saves in the final made him a hero. He also won the Federation Cup and Durand Cup with Salgaocar in 2011 and 2014 respectively. Karanjit made four appearances for the Super Machans in Chennaiyin FC's title-winning season in 2015 and was a regular last season.
